Gary Zide, Show Manager of the St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show

Every year, the St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show’s goal is to outdo last year’s show. Gary Zide, Show Manager, calls it the WOW factor. See if you think he and his crew succeeded this year…

The 2009 show is actually 5 shows in 1!

  1. Pool and spa, complete with palm trees. (Bring on the Pina Coladas!)
  2. Kitchen and bath, including a kitchen and bath stage with appliances…the works, everything you can think of.
  3. Interior Design Gallery will have furniture, wall treatments, flooring, and more. There will also be a stage for interior design programs and ASID will be on hand to answer your interior design questions.
  4. Lawn and Garden fills an enormous 1/2-acre, featuring 9 different themed gardens with real boulders, 30-ft. trees, fish ponds, streams and waterfalls. WOW!!!!
  5. Building Products showcase all things construction.

And that’s only part of the story.

The Marionette

The Marionette

There’s also a live entertainment “WOW” factor. Gary invited Worldgate Entertainment to bring in a troop of actors, who normally perform at Disney resorts and in Las Vegas. The troupe performs the story of a marionette who comes to life. This is a great story for a Show that is filled with story themes this year (and is suitable for the entire family, too.)

Remember Marcel Marceau, the world famous mime? His protégé, Bubble Nicolas, performs his mime in a clear bubble–think human-sized crystal ball or snow globe. I am so excited to see this!

Got any plans to host a festive party in the near future? Gary promises you can throw your own WOW party after visiting a new area called Lifestyle Celebrations. The entire area is devoted to party and event planning. Everything you can imagine or possibly need to pull off your own perfect event will be represented: decorations, chair rentals, florists, photographers, balloon artists, etc. Stop by and have every question you can come up with answered by professionals.

Want a wedding on a yacht? Or to host a party at The Zoo, or at your own home? Bring it on! Trotter Photo will be taking FREE photographs and posting them to its website for purchase. Walter Knoll Florists will be displaying floral designs.

Gary didn’t forget the kids, either. They also get a WOW factor. In the kids area they can plant herbs and make bird feeders to take home. There’s even a fun project to grow “Harry’s Hair.” (This area is sponsored by St. Louis County Parks and Recreation.)

We St. Louisans love to go into display homes, don’t we? So wander around the 1,400-square-foot furnished home with landscaping all around.

The St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show is the largest consumer home show in North America. (In our very own St. Louis!) So please come support this annual treasure. Somewhere in all this space they’ve created a WOW factor that has your name all over it!
