Love taking strolls through lush, verdant gardens? At the St. Louis Builders Home and Garden Show, there’ll be something for you and something for the kids, too.
You get to stroll through 9 fabulous gardens while your kids get to identify their favorite storybook characters.
The picture shown here depicts “The Secret Garden” and its storybook counterpart. Push back the vines, brush past the antique gate, and follow the stepping stone path into a magical garden. It’s from the brilliant story board of ideas from Jim Meiners, Prestige Landscape. The garden contains a symphony of water and birds. Peeking through the lush undergrowth is a kaleidoscope of color. Enjoy, because this is your secret garden area where you can relax and enjoy a little quiet time in the home show. Donations in this garden will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, so be sure to load up the kids with all your spare change before you visit.
Don’t Get Too Relaxed…You’ve Got 8 More Incredible Gardens To View
The Little Mermaid Garden lets you step into the underground world of a multi-tiered garden. You’ll see cascading lights form a shimmering waterfall that leads to a sandy beach (no, you’re still in St. Louis, unfortunately!) This design is by Mike Czeschin, Rivers West Landscaping, and includes beautiful flowering Redbuds, Forsythia and Crab trees. There’s also a natural boulder outcropping and rock ledge overlooking the elaborate waterfall, tiered paver patios and a cozy firepit.
In the Mary Poppins Garden, you’ll see the nanny made famous the world over by Disney. Watch her ascend from above, her signature carpetbag and umbrella in hand.
Tony Frisella, Frisella Nursery Inc., envisioned this perfect English garden. The masonry outdoor fireplace of brick and stone makes Mary’s chimney sweeps feel right at home. Watch for the 2 small children cast in bronze who love to play in their garden. The woodland garden is enhanced by strategically placed moss-adorned natural boulders and you’ll be enchanted by the bubbling fountain.
