Did you ever notice how there’s a business for everything you never want to do yourself?

We’re busy. We work, we carpool, we take our kids to extracurricular activities. Some of us take care of older parents, and others volunteer. In short, we have little time to spare in our action-packed lives.

(Then there’s the rest of us who have no culinary skill when it comes to laying out a menu. Like the astronauts, we just want to open a packet and eat.)

The waistlines of Americans are a testament to our busy-ness and pre-planned meal phobia. We know we have to eat, so we opt for fast food or unhealthy processed foods to sustain ourselves and our families.

Well, guess what? There’s a perfect business that takes the drudgery out of how to fix tasty meals and transforms blah, on-the-go meals into feasts worthy of gourmet status.

Tastefully Simple is a business that provides flavorful, mixable seasonings that creative unforgettable appetizers and main dishes. Just one or two key ingredients mixed together makes an entirely different meal preparation, which is a great menu solution even for unexpected company.

Even better, you can take the same seasoning packets and use them with your favorite meat or vegetable dishes to create healthy, quick, filling dinners. “Our appeal to our client base is that our foods are either ‘open and enjoy’ or, by adding one or two ingredients such as water, families can have a fabulous meal, appetizer or dessert,” said Terrie Musser, a Western Pennsylvania Tastefully Simple Consultant.

Tastefully Simple stays on top of the current culinary trends to provide their clients with the most up-to-date flavors and new mouthwatering recipes on demand. Terrie believes that the company’s attention to trends is part of what makes Tastefully Simple so successful and popular with clients. For example, currently the popular food trend is Asian cuisine, and the Green Tea Peppercorn Seasoning is a best-seller.

“I think our clients want to know the hot trends in the food industry, and they find out by hosting or attending a taste testing party, visiting our website or receiving client emails from a personal Tastefully Simple consultant,” Terrie said. “Our customers know Tastefully Simple keeps mealtime preparation easy and simple. Our byline is, ‘The Food you Love, the Time you Deserve.’”

Terrie originally became a Tastefully Simple consultant to have more time with her children. But she loves helping people problem solve their cooking challenges. “Last week, I had a call from my client, Carol Seltz of Wexford. She wanted to make our Almond Pound Cake as I had prepared it for my spring open house. It was 10:05 a.m., and she had to be out the door by 11:30 a.m –not much time. We decided to bake the cake in two smaller round pans to cut down on the baking and cooling time. We went over the instructions and ingredients together.

“Later, I got an email from her saying, ‘Hi Terrie, my cake was a hit!’ I love those stories. I have many clients or past party guests who call me for additional
tips on how to prepare the products other than what is stated on the packaging.”

Tastefully Simple had its humble beginnings in a shed in Minnesota over 10 years ago. Today, it’s a $100 million grossing direct marketing company with thousands of independent consultants nationwide. The company is very devoted to the idea of good, fresh food and adopted the Share our Strength organization, whose mission is to end childhood hunger.

Tastefully Simple donates $1.00 to this charity for every box of cookies it sells. The partnership officially started in March 2008 with a goal of raising $500,000 by the end of 2009. As of June, they’d raised more than $95,461.

While Terrie is always looking for people who want to change careers and be part of the consultant network, you don’t have to be a consultant to enjoy their flavorful ingredients. To see the options available, go to www.tastefullysimple.com/web/tmusser or ask Terrie if you can be invited to the next taste testing party.
