Scaling new heights

These are our top ten home improvement Twitter picks. Who are your favorites?

If you are one of those who loves to do home improvement projects, you probably surf online for hours for the best websites for home improvement tips and tricks.

To help you solve this problem, we created a top ten list of our favorite home improvement websites. We compiled our list from the most popular sites on Twitter, so if you’re on Twitter, check them out.

If we’ve missed any of your favorite Twitter home-improvement sites, please add them to the comments section at the end of this article so we can all enjoy them!

1. Home Improve Now is a home improvement idea site for information on your home and lifestyle. They have home improvement resources and they suggest easy home improvement projects. To go straight to their website, go here.

2. Improve Your Home and Garden. Of course the next Twitter site we recommend is the one you are currently visiting! We feature the expertise of local craftsmen and contractors who are well known in the community as the “best in the business” in home improvement and incorporating sustainable living lifestyle elements into your home. From our articles, you’ll learn how to recognize good craftsmanship and how to hire the most qualified home-improvement contractors.

3. Handy Guys gives you distinct opinions of people who are very experienced in the area of home improvement. Besides Twitter they also have a podcast where you can listen to their advice, too.

4. Renovation Junky has all you need to know if you are an addicted remodeling junky. It teaches you ways to help save money on your projects.

5. Home Fixated nails everything that is entertaining and useful about home improvement. They say they’re not afraid to talk about getting hammered–or even screwing! Because, they say, “Frankly, it’s our job.” Power tools are particularly revered at Home Fixated, for virtually every task (including simple jobs best done by hand). But, they will review lots of stuff that does not plug into a wall outlet too. They’re also not above bribing you to read their site frequently. Every month Home Fixated features a Free Stuff Giveaway and you can win super cool power tools, home improvement products, or junk collecting in their shop!

6. Southern Living. If you like living in or visiting or replicating down-south hospitality, this could be the site for you! This group travels the South from Dallas to Delaware (Delaware?) and shares the fascinating places, people, homes, gardens, and foods that make this region unique. They say their editors live the life they celebrate.

7. House Beautiful. If you’re into southern, northern, eastern and western looks–in fact, if you just enjoy being a voyeur of other people’s beautiful home decorating and home improvement projects, this one is an all-purpose Twitter site. On the House Beautiful website, you’ll find decorating ideas, kitchen and living room furniture, painting, and much more.

8. My Home Design says it’s created by people who are passionate about creating and decorating homes for people who are still defining their personalities. They provide information, ideas and solutions to help you with all your home improvement problems. Whether you are renovating for the first time or trying to add new features to your home, they help you discover what you need for a successful outcome.

9. Home Savvi is all about simplifying the complex process of home remodeling. Through their informative articles, the online tools, homeowner blogs and professional advice, Home Savvi guides homeowners through the entire remodeling process. Their mission is to connect homeowners with local professional resources – from retailers to contractors – and provide tools that homeowners can use to organize and manage their remodeling project online.

10. Old House Web was started as an offline company in 1999. In 2006, it got new ownership who says, “Following in the footsteps of our founders, we are also in the business for the long haul. We understand that in order to earn your repeat visits to our website, our name must be synonymous with excellence.” They are lovers of old houses, ideas and advice for old-house enthusiasts, the Web, and publishing in general. Isn’t that a great attitude for a home-improvement site?
