What do you do if you’re into sustainability and green living – but realize that the major influencers are male?

Well, if you’re Cheryl Janis, you step up and add your voice to the mix. Cheryl, an award-winning interior designer known for her attention to detail and green designs, embarked on a blogging journey at a time when green living products and services were dominated by men.

She didn’t think this was a bad thing, but, hey, where were all the women? After all, we do comprise 51 percent of the population, right?

With little background in blogging, but an intense desire to round the hard edges of green living with a feminine touch, she launched www.planetpinkngreen.com to highlight unique, unusual and downright sensible ideas, products and thoughts about sustainability and green living as seen through the eyes of women.

Her aim wasn’t completely altruistic – she also wanted to steer her clients toward useful and unique products to support the green designs she was creating for them. Having her own blog seemed like the perfect solution.

At Planet Pink n Green you’ll encounter posts as diverse as:

  • How to be a green bride (oh come on, you know what I mean) and reduce wedding cake waste
  • A thought-provoking essay on shoelaces and self-love
  • Love notes from Cheryl – commentaries on life, living, design tips and heartfelt commentary on a variety of topics

Of course, there’s that great resource list that Cheryl has been compiling since 2006.

Cheryl is happy to share her blog with other posters who have complementary expertise. Regardless of whose posts you read, you’ll be better educated and, perhaps, a bit wiser about sustainability with style when you leave.

Cheryl will be at the Energy Trust Better Living Show again this year as a roving reporter talking with vendors and attendees.
